The new year is here and it’s time to start thinking about your social media content for now and indeed, the year ahead.
Whether you’re a small business owner, self-employed, or even working in the areas of marketing or social media, you’ll find inspiration in our ideas for this month so that your 2023 is off to a great start!
Resolutions & Goals
The beginning of the year is always a great opportunity to talk about resolutions and goals and depending on your business you can highlight how it relates to your products or services. Ask your community what their resolutions are and encourage them to share their own stories. You can also give helpful advice on how to stay motivated throughout the year or offer tips on setting realistic goals.
New Year’s Reflections & Celebrations
Another great idea is to create content that reflects on the year gone by and looks forward to celebrating a new one. Ask questions like “what were some of your biggest accomplishments in 2022?” or “what would you like to achieve in your business by the end of 2023?” Questions like this can encourage engagement, even where people don’t want to share their feedback publicly you might be surprised by private messages you get on social media so they can be great for starting a conversation.
Your Plans For The Year Ahead
If you have a product launch coming up or an exciting special offer, this is the perfect time to promote it on social media. Highlight the features of your product or service, as well as any deals or discounts you might be offering. Even better if you’ve got the right visuals such as videos, photos, infographics, etc., which will help grab people’s attention while they’re in the form for planning – yours might be just the product or service they need.
Awareness Days
And, as with every month, there are themes that work with specific days of the month that might be suited to your business, during January these include;
1st January – National Hangover Day
2nd January – World Introvert Day, Science Fiction Day, Personal Trainers Day
4th January – World Braille Day, Hypnotism Day
6th January – Little Christmas or Nollaig Na Mban (Ireland)
8th January – Earth’s Rotation Day, Vision Board Day
9th January – World Nerd Day, Clean Your Desk Day
14th January – International Kite Day
16th January – International Hot & Spicy Food Day, Blue Monday
18th January – Winnie the Pooh Day
20th January – Penguin Awareness Day, International Day Of Acceptance
21st January – International Sweatpants Day
22nd January – Chinese New Year (Rabbit)
23rd January – Community Manager Appreciation Day
26th January – Australia Day
28th January – International Reducing CO2 Emissions Day
And, as we head towards the end of the month remember there’s a new bank holiday coming up very early this year – Monday 6th February – it would be appropriate to mention revised opening hours or special offers just as we reach the end of January.
January is traditionally all about making plans, and looking forward to new and exciting times whether it’s in your business or personal life so our advice is to take lessons from the past but treat this period as a new chapter and plan for a super year ahead.
Happy New Year!
