Last Wednesday I was the lucky winner of a wonderful Valentine’s promotion run by Totterdells, an electronics business that those of us from the south Dublin and Bray areas will be familiar with as they’ve probably provided most homes over the years with TVs, computers, phones and lots more too.
As part of their #TottsOfLove promotion, Totterdells offered a super hamper valued at €100 to be drawn at random amongst new followers and/or those who shared details of the competition.
I came across it during the #IrishBizParty twitter chat which takes place every Wednesday night here in Ireland and it would appear that its been something of a success for Totterdells if the volume of re-tweets and number of new followers is anything to go by – seems we all love our chocolates 😀
It was a super hamper but having recently commenced my latest health kick I had a chat with Totterdells the following day we decided that in the spirit of the season we’d spread the love and offer it to a local charity.
As Totterdells are based in Bray and I’m from Loughlinstown we decided we’d keep it local and opted for Sinead’s Stems Of Hope, a campaign being run for 39 year old mum of three Sinead Byrne from Ballybrack in Co. Dublin who has been diagnosed with MS and is fund-raising to secure treatment overseas which has a significant chance of halting the progress of this condition.
This is Sinead’s story…
“In May 2013, my life changed forever when I heard the devastating news that I had Multiple Sclerosis (M.S.). I am a 39 year old mother of three and wife to Bernard. I have a loving and supportive family who continued to encourage me positively on my M.S. journey.
In 2014, I began to research Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation (H.S.C.T.). With this treatment I will have (or hope to have) an 80% chance of halting this disease. Unfortunately, this treatment is not available to us here in Ireland but I have been lucky enough to be accepted onto a waiting list in Moscow and am also hoping to hear back from other countries in Europe.
So, this is where you all come in…
We are starting a campaign “Sinead’s Stems Of Hope” to raise much needed funds to help me on my journey to better health…In the coming months we will looking for people to help fundraise, whether it be running/walking in the Womens Mini Marathon, hosting a coffee morning, table quiz, cake sale or any other event that comes to mind…
A wonderfully worthy cause we think you’ll agree.
And how can you help? Like Sinead’s facebook page, follow Sinead on twitter, contribute to any of her upcoming fund-raising efforts or if you’ve got any ideas for her you can contact Sinead by email at Sineadsstemsofhope@gmail.com
Or you could simply share this post, help Sinead on her way – and make sure to include her choice of # which is very apt for the season #muchlove <3
