In celebration of International Women’s Day which fell on Friday 8th March, I was fortunate enough to attend a super networking event supported by the Enterprise Boards in Dublin; Dublin City (DCEB Women’s Network), Fingal and Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown.
With an expected 200 attendees the successes of women in business were celebrated with speakers from brands including Fuschia, Clevermamma, Rothar, Vodafone taking the time to share some insights into how they took an idea or a vision and created a successful business for themselves.
It was a hugely supportive environment with a large part of the event focused on enabling women to network – plain old-fashioned connecting with others, swapping stories and business cards and in some cases planting the seeds of a new business relationship.
Whilst it was a women-only affair this wasn’t an “all-girls-together” type affair, rather a celebration of what women can do and encouragement for those who might just be in the early stages or enduring a few challenges to listen, ask questions and take advice from others who might just have the solution that they themselves weren’t even aware they needed yet.
Networking is a superb way of promoting both your own personal brand and your business and whilst I regularly attend events with both males and females, it’s perhaps wise to tune into events such as this if you are a female in business as given that we’re famous for supporting each other the atmosphere needs to be experienced to be believed.
Thank you Dublin City Enterprise Board Network For Women, I look forward to attending more of your events.
