Late last year I was invited to become an ambassador for Ulster Bank’s Small Business Can new initiative “Business Women Can” which was launched in October 2012. The objective of this programme is to support more females on the entrepreneurial journey which although it can be daunting at times, can be an enjoyable experience if the right supports are available.
Business Women Can is part of Small Business Can, a free to join web community which focuses specifically on the small business sector. At any given time you can pick up a wealth of information on everything from how to manage your social media to how you should deal with your finances. If you have a dilemma and aren’t sure how best to deal with it, or perhaps don’t have the budget to pay somebody do it for you, you’ll find it’s a fantastic forum for advice and recommendations too.
A number of external ambassadors such as myself were chosen from across Ireland to work alongside designated personnel within Ulster Bank so that we can where appropriate work with women in business. And after the launch at the Abbey Theatre (pictured above) and a training day at the Ulster Bank Head Office in Dublin, we’ve all had the opportunity to meet up with business people with a varied range of skills that will over time become the heart of the Business Women Can community.
It’s early days yet but I intend to fill you in on more details through our blog here at The Marketing Shop as the programme evolves – and to contribute some blogs to the online community also.
