The Business Achievers 2013 Live, the road show supported by Small Business Can and Ulster Bank rolled into town last week – or more specifically to the Jameson Brewery in Dublin’s Smithfield and it was an evening most definitely well spent. The roadshow was designed as an opportunity for small businesses to enjoy some networking, take advice from some experts that would assist them in their endeavours and also to highlight the Ulster Bank sponsored Business Achievers Awards.
The speaker panel included Sam Hobbs of BusinessAndLeadershop.com and Ian Cleary of RazorSocial.com amongst others and topics covered on the night included; Sales versus Marketing, Social Media, Content Marketing, Communications, Networking and more. There was also a good deal of audience participation.
Interestingly the majority of the panel said they’d opt for a sales person over a marketing person with the exception of one who was in the business of educating their market for the longer term. As a marketer who’s worked in sales I’ll be sharing a blog post shortly on the topic as in quite honestly I’d suggest sales are looking after today’s income whereas marketing is looking after tomorrow’s – but that’s for another day!
Despite the venue we didn’t partake in a drop of whiskey but we did enjoy a glass or two of wine, a few nibbles and of course the opportunity to meet with fellow entrepreneurs on the small business journey.
It was a well organised and enjoyable networking event. And for those who aren’t familiar with the Business Achievers Awards, the deadline is fast approaching and you can find out more or enter by clicking here.
